Chinook Salmon Collapse: Causes and Approaches to Restoration
Yukon River salmon, in particular Chinook reliably sustained people throughout the watershed of the Yukon River for countless generations. In recent years, the population of Chinook has collapsed to a shadow of its former glory.
This article points to overharvest as the most obvious cause of the collapse and advocates a purposeful and targeted harvest reduction as an approach to restoring Yukon River Chinook.

YCS and Yukon Salmon Sub-Committee 2020 update
On May 6th, YCS met with the Yukon Salmon Sub-Committee (YSSC) to hear about how the 2019 salmon season worked out, and to discuss the projections for this summer.
Yukon Mineral Development Strategy
On May 1st, the Yukon Conservation Society presented some of our concerns around existing mining legislation to the Yukon Mineral Development Strategy (YMDS) panel. YCS anticipates sending additional comments to the YMDS over the ongoing consultation process. All Yukoners are invited to submit their own comments via the panel's website.
