Interested in pursuing environmental studies or wish to acknowledge someone for their work and dedication to natural resource conservation and management in the Yukon?

The Yukon Conservation Society administers and promotes financial support to aspiring and well-established conservationists through the Ted Parnell Scholarship, Gerry Couture Stewardship Award and the Yukon Environmental Training Fund.

The Ted Parnell Scholarship

The Ted Parnell Scholarship Fund was established to honour the life and work of Ted Parnell (1947-1981). The Yukon Conservation Society offers an annual scholarship of $500 to a student of environmental studies who demonstrates outstanding interest and motivation in the environmental field. For 2023 only, the scholarship is for $1000. Interests pertaining to northern environments such as wildlife, ecology, renewable resources, energy, and environmental education are appropriate areas for eligibility.

The Gerry Couture Stewardship Award

The purpose of the Gerry Couture Stewardship Award is to foster public awareness of, and appreciation for, the personal dedication required to conserve and manage the Yukon’s natural resources. The donor of the award is inspired by Gerry Couture’s fearlessness and persistence in the face of adversity, and his creativity, innovation, and curmudgeonliness.

Yukon Environmental Training Fund

The goal of the Yukon Environmental Training Fund is to support training, retraining, upgrading and improving of occupational skills of those employed by Yukon's environmental groups or individuals working on environmental issues and activities in the Yukon. The YETF is currently administered by the Raven Recycling Society. Please contact Raven Recycling for more information.
